Usage Note:  "Quotation" vs "Quote"

Note that the word "quotation" is a noun, and "to quote" is a verb.  Please use these words properly in formal writing and discourse.  You may "quote" (vb.) Shakespeare in your paper on Hamlet, but "The play's the thing / Wherein I'll catch the conscience of the King" (2.2.605-606) is a "quotation" (n.), not a "quote."
